BCT Reading – China’s Trading Partners

This is a one reading/two question exercise.

Studying these two pie-charts, we can see that they are representations of China’s trading partners. The first is imports 进口[jìnkǒu]。货源地[huòyuándì] here means the source/supply or place from which the goods came. 分币[fēnbì] means divided by.

The second graph is the destination 目的地[mùdìdì] of exports 出口[chūkǒu]。 欧盟[ōuméng] is Chinese for the EU, and 东盟[dōngméng] refers to the ASEAN.

The first question states for China’s November imports source,

each country’s ,所占比例[bǐlì](percentage/proportion):

A. is basically 基本[jīběn] the same 相当[xiāngdāng]  :-|

B. Korea 韩国 and the ASEAN are the same  :-|

C. Japan is double 多一倍[yíbèi] that of America.

or(a tricky one)

D. the EU,the  ASEAN, and Korea, increase in sequence 依次递增[yīcìdìzēng]

which we can see is false because by studying the pie-chart we can

see they actually decrease in sequence.

The second question is concerned with each country’s export proportion:

A. The EU is more than Japan :-| – they’re the same

B. is the same as Imports  :-|

C. Japan is 4 times more than Korea

(BE CAREFUL, 多三倍 means 4 times,

NOT 3 times!)  :-|

So the answer is D. The EU is lower than the US

by 7 percentage points 7个百分点[bǎifēndiǎn]
